New Rig Veda single “Fire Fight” will hit stores on October 2. The track is an eleven-minute sound piece, or short film inspired by the work of NYC painter Gosha Levotchkin. The music was originally conceived as the soundtrack to Levotchkin’s solo show in Hong Kong, but when the pandemic hit and public gatherings were canceled, the idea was shelved. A few months later and the messages hidden within the track are more relevant than ever. The name “Fire Fight” comes from two prevalent themes in Levotchkin’s work: Fire and figures wearing boxing gloves. A few short months after creating this piece, the real fighting began in streets across the globe. From Washington D.C. and Portland, to Chile, Belarus, Lebanon, Israel, and Thailand, the pandemic seems to have laid bare the deadly consequences of living under authoritarian power. Not only that, but the fire that can be heard throughout the length of the track is mirrored in reality. The entire west coast of the United States is currently choked in smoke and ash from wildfires caused by climate change, and exacerbated by stubbornness, tribalism, and stupidity. Are we heading for a KO, or are we ready to learn from what science is telling us about our planet and about ourselves? You can pre-save the track now on all streaming platforms and download on October 2.
